Riding Lawn Mowers

Riding lawn mowers are the perfect choice for people with medium sized to large lawns.  Riding lawn mowers are also great for those who prefer the convenience of sitting and steering when mowing their lawn as opposed to the back breaking effort of push mowing their lawn during the heat of the summer months.  They can make short easy of almost any lawn when compared to their walk-behind cousins.

Riding lawn mowers come in a wide variety of sizes and styles.  Smaller sized riding lawn mowers are a great option for those who have smaller yards with tighter spaces to mow between.  Larger riding lawn mowers are great because they can mow a much larger area in a shorter amount of time due to the larger size of their cutting decks.  The only drawback with larger models is that they may not be capable of reaching the tighter areas of your lawn.  This may mean that you will also need a smaller mower for these areas.

Regardless of your lawn care needs or preferences there is most likely a riding lawn mower that will work great for you.  You will definitely want to choose a riding lawn mower that has enough power to handle your particular lawn’s terrain and landscaping needs.

There are two main types of riding lawn mowing that you may want to consider.  The first are the small to mid sized riding mowers with the traditional design that has a wheel for steering.  The second is the Zero-turning radius riding mower.  Instead of a steering wheel for steering they have two levers and the turning mechanism allows them to rotate on the spot.  This makes maneuver a zero-turning radius riding mower far easier than a conventional riding mower.

Zero-turning radius riding mowers have the ruggedness and muscle that is needed to take on the toughest of mowing situations.  Zero-turn radius riding mowers can take care of a much wider mowing area in a much shorter amount of time than other types of riding lawn mowers all thanks to their bigger sized mowing decks and greater amount of maneuverability.  They are an extremely efficient  at handling much larger lawns and larger mowing areas such as small fields and grassy or weedy lots.

The primary disadvantage of zero-turn radius riding mowers is the fact they are so large.  If your lawn has a large number of smaller spaces and areas that are difficult to reach, a zero-turn radius riding mower may not be for you.  Their big mowing decks can make mowing in smaller hard to reach areas virtually impossible.

Again, if your lawn or mowing area is multiple acres in size and the biggest part of it consists of  areas that are wide open, then a zero-turning radius riding mower could be just what you need.  The main thing to remember is that you could possibly require the use of a smaller lawn mower to take care of any of  those extremely hard to reach parts of your lawn or mowing area.
